A Naming Ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for you to welcome a new baby, adopted child or stepchild into your family. It is an opportunity to officially 'name' or 'welcome ' the child or children but also gives you the chance to declare in front of family and friends, your love for the child. You can also make promises about your commitment to the child or children and to being the best parent you can to them.
Family and friends can be involved by declaring their love and commitment to the child or children and officially welcoming them into the family. You may also choose a couple of family members or friends to be 'Guideparents'; people you trust, who will act as a lifelong mentor, role model and source of support for the child or children.
A naming ceremony has no legal status but is a wonderful way to celebrate one of life's precious moments - welcoming a new member to your family. You can hold your ceremony where ever you would like; at home, at a local community centre, park, garden, the beach or somewhere else that has special meaning for you and your family.
I will spend time getting to know you, what your new family member means to you. I will create a ceremony for you that will reflect the joy of welcoming a new member or members into your family and the hopes, joys and aspirations this brings to you all.
We can choose readings, poems and music that reflect your love for the child or children. You may already have some that you would like to include, or I can help you find the right ones for you all. We can also (if you would like) add in some form of ritual, which family or friends could be part of, making them feel they are an important part of your child or children's special day.
I would be honoured to meet you, to find out about you and your new family member, hear about your hopes, joy and aspirations for them and help you create a truly unique and meaningful naming ceremony.
